Roving Camera - Mike O'Brien

It's time to insert a little more beauty into the Truth & Beauty blog. A reader and good friend from Armstrong, BC in Canada sent these cell phone shots to me last Thursday when he took his class skiing at Silver Star Resort in Vernon, BC.

The first shot was just as snow clouds were coming in and the shot below was toward the end of the day.

Thanks to Mike O'Brien for the pictures.

Finally!!!

I have been absent recently as I have been reading manuals in preparation for the arrival of my new camera. Today is a very good day, for it has arrived! I expect I might be missing a few more blog days as I venture out. My apologies, in advance. As you can tell by the hour, I have already started paying more attention to the camera than sleep.

Backstage at Balenciaga

This is part of where I have been this week, in Dallas at the Meadows Museum on the SMU Campus. Here are a few more behind the scene shots at preparations for the opening of the Balenciaga Show. Click on any of the pictures to enlarge.

Over 150 pairs of pantyhose were used. On the trunks, as well as torsos. The crotches were removed and they were put over the heads and arms of the mannequins to protect the artwork.

Backstage at Balenciaga

I am fortunate enough to know several insiders at the Balenciaga and his Legacy show. It is haute couture designed by Cristóbal Balenciaga that is part of the Texas Fashion Collection and will be showing between February 4th and May 27 at The Meadows Museum of Art in Dallas, TX.

Below is the first cellphone shot (of many, I hope) of behind the scenes preparations for the show:

You must take a look at the other pictures Ellen posted (20 December 2006) of Sedlec Ossuary on her blog: Nonchalant Natter of the Sleeping Pirate.

Bass Chakra

Last Friday night started with dinner at Thai Passion Restaurant, then off to the Karma Lounge for blacklights, breakbeat and go-go girls in cages.

We left around 2:15...unfortunately didn't stay long enough to see Sage and Arashi perform.

Did I mention I love Austin?

Mountain Hike in a Snow Globe

During my time in B.C. I had the opportunity to climb Mt. Rose Swanson. As we hiked, I was starting to question if my inner South Texan had bundled up too much. I had to remove my coat completely about 1/4 of the way up and kept it off until we got about 3/4 of the way up when the snow flurries began and the winds began to pick up. By the time we got to the peak, it was really snowing. This is a picture of my guide taking time on the peak to soak in the universe and enjoy the snow globe view of the valley. Thank you for the view, the history, the experience.

I have found this climb and everything associated with it to be enlightening and exhilarating. Beauty and wonder abound on this hike.

The Virtual Vernon website gives the following information regarding our climb:
Hike time: 3 hours
Distance:7kms
Difficulty:Moderate
Gain:300m from Polson Park

Running Free
This was taken as the sun was setting at Lake Travis. The gentleman in the picture is Lawrence Lane, a personal trainer from Dallas, TX. He had me take this shot as an ad for a nude running club. I really like how both feet are off the ground in this shot.
