Morning Music

This is a fun bit of music and animation for my Sunday Morning Music selection. The original African song, “Mbube” (pronounced EEM-boo-beh) means lion. It was written by Solomon Linda of South Africa and sold almost 100,000 copies in the 1940s. It was based on Linda's boyhood experiences chasing lions away that were stalking his family's cattle. It became so popular that Zulu choral music became known as “Mbube Music”. ; It has only been in very recent history that Solomon Linda's family has seen any of the royalties.
