House Votes For Impeachment

From the United States House of Representatives

(I'm as surprised as you are)!

The House of Representatives voted to refer 35 articles of impeachment against President Bush for high crimes and misdemeanors to the Judiciary Committee.

House Roll Call No. 401
110th Congress, 2nd Session

Passed!

251-166, 16 did not vote.
The House agreed to refer H. Res. 1258, impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors, to the Committee on the Judiciary by a yea-and-nay vote of 251 yeas to 166 nays, Roll No. 401.

Our "representative", Lamar Smith voted against it.

See the breakdown of how everyone voted here.

This vote means they've sent the impeachment into limbo, into committee where nothing will happen. It doesn't mean support for or advancement of the impeachment, it means the END of the attempt. Sucks, eh? If only we could just drag those bastards through the streets in tar and feathers...sigh...instead of trusting Congress to do anything about it.

High crimes and misdemeanors...I am going to have to do more research before I can make a meaningful comment. If he is guilty of these allegations of breaking our laws with malicious intent, he did so knowing that he would have to pay a societal price and should be impeached.

jimmi: yup!

Paul. It only means the end if we allow them to kill it in committee. We need to keep up the pressure and overpower Nancy Pelosi's loyalty to Bush. Yes, a tough fight, but worth fighting.

David: Thanks for looking into it. You always provide interesting perspective. I look forward to your insights.

ANDOVER LAW SCHOOL TO
SPONSOR BUSH WAR CRIMES TRIAL
By Brian Messenger
Eagle Tribune Staff writer, Massachusetts

A local law school dean will host a controversial conference of lawyers and academics this fall to draw up a prosecution against President Bush for war crimes — crimes punishable by imprisonment or death.

Lawrence Velvel, dean and co-founder of the Massachusetts School of Law in Andover, announced plans for the two-day conference, "Planning for the Prosecution of High Level American War Criminals," last month.

A conference will be held September 13-14 at the Massachusetts School of Law at Andover.

My opinion is bring Bush and cohorts to a war crimes tribunal. This will be much more effective than impeachment. It's to late in the year for that crap to ever get out of committee, and his term ends at the end of the year. Besides impeachment isn't good enough. He should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors and then hung for it when convicted.

I wrote an article on it, also. Which you can find here.
