Some of you may have heard about Bob Barr running on the Libertarian ticket; another scary character. He is a libertarian authoritarian, ex-CIA and a major player in the war on drugs. He advocates complete federal prohibition of medical marijuana. He even authored the "Barr" amendment which prohibits future laws that would "decrease the penalties for marijuana".
Who is there left, you ask? A female candidate for President of the United States. Yes, there is a woman who is actually on the ballot and she is black! What's more? She has a black female Vice Presidential running mate. In the last 3 months, there are only 4 people I have spoken with who even know she is running. Yes, I am voting for Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente.
I can understand that she may not be the mainstream's most viable candidate, but one would expect just a bit more hoopla in the news about a female presidential candidate, especially a black one.
I won't tell anyone to vote any particular way. All I ask is:
Don't vote for the lesser evil. Don't vote for evil at all. Vote your conscience.

I understand and believe in most of her message, but her public record is less than agreeable. The March 29th, 2006 Capitol Hill Incident is one example of elitist behavior usually attributed to our president and vice president - the same people she opposes and rails against. Plus, her message of peace and togetherness falls flat when it only includes examples of "Dr. King's message", "disaffected African-Americans", and "rebuild New Orleans". Granted, being a part of any racial group can make you biologically attached that group above others, but I did not hear one comment about disaffected Asian-Americans, Indian-Americans, Greek-Americans, Italian-Americans, Latin-Americans, Generic-Whitey-Americans, etc... If she had mentioned just one other group in her speech, I might have thought she could think beyond her bond with the African-American community and embrace true togetherness with all other humans. It appears that is not the case, and her world is tinged with self-interest. No, mi amigo, she is quite the same as our other candidates. Different party name, but just another cog in the American government machine.
I am not much aware about these things but was interesting to read.well nice blog .
and yeah thanks for voting my blog in the battle.
take care
Are you making your entire decision to vote for her (or not) on one YouTube video? I suppose one might, as there has been a media blackout surrounding the very first female candidate for president and one of two African-American candidates.
True, a good deal of this message of disaffection doesn't mention all groups impacted. Granted.
I would like to point out she doesn't have the top speech writers from the best Bilderberg PR firms to make everyone feel more included. I'm not a huge fan of hers, but in all of her activities, she has never excused the unlawful or unconstitutional.
She is like the other candidates in that she is a politician and does have her own agenda. Although she didn't mention Mexican Americans in her speech, she hasn't voted for or supported legislation that degrades the Constitution.
All of the other candidates have shown their record and intent to be authoritarian and anti-constitutional. Until she does that...she still has my support.
Perhaps I am too much of a dreamer. I believe in a candidate from the ficitional Utopia Party - one that is not afraid to mention support for all disaffected groups. Obviously, that candidate does not exist, and what you mentioned in your original post "Don't vote for the lesser evil. Don't vote for evil at all. Vote your conscience" has motivated me to avoid voting for evil. True to my conscience, I will vote for no one. None of the candidates represent my silly ideas of a harmonious society, and none shall earn my support. Does Cynthia KcKinney represent you? Does she have your interests at heart? Also, she is not the first woman to run for president in the United States. Check this link to view a long list of others who have attempted to run this place: http://www.guide2womenleaders.com/Candidates1870.htm
It might be more accurate to agree with the claim on her website that she is running on the "First All-Women-Of-Color Presidential Ticket in U.S. History." But aren't we all black on the inside? Didn't all of humanity come from Africa? If that is true, perhaps she does, in fact, represent my interests. We're all African-Americans! Go Green Party! Dang, I almost got fired-up there for a candidate. The Utopia Party has my vote - whenever it is formed, that is.
Droo,
Wow. Thanks for the humility. You are so right about the whole first female thing. I repeated a sound byte I heard about Hillary Clinton. You would think I would know better.
Thanks for the correction. It's nice to know there are well informed people reading my blog that do just as I have always asked: "Please don't believe me, look it up for yourself."
Actually, she does represent my views on many topics and I do believe she would have my best interests at heart. (I say that as a flourescent white man.) I am not looking for anyone to look out for me, I am looking for a president to keep a watchful eye on our constitution. I think it is part of the job description.
I am of the opinion that we all should not vote and nullify the system. Until I can convince a few more people of that, I will vote for the only candidate I know of that has not assaulted the constitution.
I encourage you to vote your conscience. If that is not voting, do that. I also encourage to continue sharing your views as you are informative and witty.
If not Utoipian, Green.
All goes well with the war in Oceania.
Thanks Bikran. Hope to see you back soon.
Thank you for posting thought-provoking material. I will try to live up to your request and challenge to my mind.
George Bush has hurt the United States of America more than Osama Bin Laden ever did. From his Failure to Avenge America from 9/11 to his incompetence in New Orleans. Now our Economy is back to the Great Depression Era. The GOP shoves some senile lifetime Senator in front of the Public and demands that we trust it. GOP can't win wars, GOP can't handle the Economy,GOP doesn't care about the People. GOP = American Al Qaeda.
