I don't necessarily follow well or encourage anyone to follow me. There is beauty in being a lone nut; with or without followers. Here is to the pursuit of truth, love and beauty and the movements that form around those pursuits!

A word of caution: sometimes a lone nut is just a lone nut and not a leader (not that there's anything wrong with that), no matter how many followers there might be.

I Blame Rick Mercer

We have been working on immigrating to Canada for quite a while now. We recently received our application back (again) from the Canadian Consulate in New York.  This time, advising us that they were no longer handling these requests and all must now be sent to Sydney, Nova Scotia.  

Until November, there were over 700 acceptable occupations allowed to apply for permanent residency as skilled workers(the step before citizenship)...Now there are only 38 occupations in the skilled worker class. It is as if they are slamming the border shut.

Passionate Drummer

As I love to feature artists who truly love what they do, this music video caught my eye this morning. The drummer in this video is completely "into" his performance. Unfortunately, his passionate performance somewhat upstages the rest of the band.

By now, most of you have seen the Obama campaign music video of his speech, "Yes We Can". Someone created a video of McCain (john.he.is) giving one of his speeches in a similar style.

If anyone is wondering, I have not decided to endorse any particular candidate. However, I will gladly oppose John McCain. I believe it was Pat Buchanan who said, " John McCain will make Cheney look like Ghandi."

Morning Music - Richter Scales

Those of us in Austin remember the tech boom, the invasion of Austin by Southern Californians, skyrocketing real estate and the following dot com crash. This video, written and arranged by Matt Hempey and mixed by Bill Hare, humorously addresses the possibility of another tech bubble. It is a Silicon Valley music video by the Richter Scales called, "Here Comes Another Bubble" and it is sung to the tune of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire".

The Chasers - Bin Laden Visits George Bush

Julian Morrow, Chas Licciardello and 9 other ABC employees were arrested during a prank for their TV show, "The Chasers". They managed to breach the security for APEC and got a fake Osama Bin Laden within about 10 metres of President Bush's hotel. Morrow was quoted as saying, "It was just lucky it was us, and not al-Qaeada."

Morrow along with fellow cast member Chas Licciardello and 9 other ABC employees yesterday managed to get their fake motorcade within 10 meters of George W. Bush's hotel.

The convoy, complete with a fake Osama Bin Laden, was twice waved on by police within the APEC secure zone in central Sydney.

"I'm angry, I'm very angry that this stunt happened. It was a very dangerous stunt," said Mr Scipione, the NSW Police Commisioner.

Mr. Scipione is likely be evaluated on how well he secured the area...It's no wonder he's so angry.

Miss Teen USA 2007

Miss South Carolina answers the following question posed to her at the Miss Teen USA 2007 competition:
