Sigh No More

Love; it will not betray you
Dismay or enslave you
It will set you free

Be more like the man
You were made to be
There is a design
An alignment, a cry

Of my heart to see
The beauty of love
As it was made to be

May love set us all free!!!

Leslie Cochran's Memorial

Sweet, stubborn, passionate, loved, loving and a willing Austin icon...

You will be missed.
You will be remembered.
You are loved.

Tiptoeing at Sunset

Tiptoeing at sunset, cataloguing
Life's odd placements and pitfalls
Attempting recall with each step

Fumbling through darkness fallen
Searching for unimpeded paths
Stepping lightly, retracting quickly

Each step met with jagged surprises
Nothing in place, nothing the same
Knowing it never shall be again

Robert Peery, Your Smiles Will Be Missed

Goodbye friend.  Thank you for always entertaining my ideas and providing me with perspectives I had not considered.

Thank you for loving Natalie the way she needed and wanted to be... Completely.

I do and will miss you, Bob.
Much love on your journey.

Goodbye Sweet Franzi

We met Franziska Bader shortly after we returned from tour back in 2002.  She greeted us with big hugs, fed us fantastic food and asked questions that made our brains hurt.  She became a close friend and client who we stayed with each visit to or through Dallas.

We will miss you so much.  Thank you for all you taught us. Thank you for all of your love, generosity and integrity.  Thank you for your BEing.

It is with a heavy heart that I share that she passed away while on a journey to see her parents in Switzerland.

Our friend Franzi was an artist, friend, teacher, student, seeker and a lover of life.

Thank you to Shane for sharing her final adventure and providing the comfort she needed to find that final smirk.

My Friend, Billy Bones

Billy cheers up so many of my mornings.
We share coffee, conversation, philosophy, music and hugs. It's not that I start out in a bad place; but Billy has a way of cheering people up, no matter their mood.

This morning he shared a song he has been working on for the last week:

Back from the Bahamas!

I am back, rested and my hand is almost completely healed from just a few days in the ocean water.  I hope to do some selecting/editing and share some of the sights as I traveled with an amazing group of friends.

It was an honor to be part of this gathering.  Thank you for an amazing time, everyone.

Kyla La Grange @ SXSW Tonight!!!

Tonight at Klub Krucial.
9 pm
612 E 6th Street-Right next door to Emo's!
Kyla La Grange!!!
You have to hear her in person to really understand.

Kyla began playing music when she was five years-old, started her first band at thirteen, and resolved to do this for the rest of her life while studying philosophy at Cambridge University – "I realised I loved writing and performing more than anything."

Kyla has been recording her debut record with exciting newcomer Brett Shaw (South, UNKLE). Not an easy artist to pigeonhole, Kyla’s influences range from Cat Power, Bat For Lashes and Stevie Nicks to American indie faves Modest Mouse and folk heroes like Beirut and Elvis Perkins. Having said that, Kyla’s sound is genuinely original. Whether it’s the heart on sleeve lyrics and violent acoustic strumming of Vampire Smile or the euphoric choruses of Walk Through Walls and Lambs, Kyla La Grange is never one to stay in her musical comfort zone. The final few months of 2010 see Kyla going on tour with I Blame Coco as main support for half of her UK tour. Kyla's debut single is released on the NOIR label in March 2011

The Sacred Geometry of Fire

the zen of it all - such a blessing
darting, parting, blazing, trailing
life in blues and yellows

a bob, a weave -- an exercise in subtlety
feeling it, hearing it, knowing it
fire transforms thought, time, & intuition

each breath slows to an eternity
movements conscious, yet not
mathematical, transformative, instinctual

sacred geometry scores the night air
possibilities of heat-formed fields of
dancing arm-hair dandelions loom

seering, red-hot, metal kisses
etch for a while, if not forever
a memory, a sensation, a lesson

instructors sent to direct and guide
dancing fireballs admonish and chide

each reminder less than the last
rushes of wind and sounds of fire
driving energy beyond the bounds
and through my very being

grace, beauty and movement
as the heart expands, so does the mind
no reaction, just flow-no attack, just flow

On the Instruction of Flames

Flames cleanse and correct
Instructing unforgivingly
On balance and harmony
Creating neurological pathways

This space where time slows
Intuition expands by necessity
Flexibility, flow and subtleties
Appear where they were not
