The New Anthem... Monsanto Go Away!!!

Monsanto (Go Away!)
Words and Music by Human
The song begins 55 seconds in.

You say you want to help our community
Help the farmers sell more food
But all you sell to us is lies
You're only looking out for you

You say its all about the children
And yet you feed them pesticides
We know its all about your profits
Because of you too many die

Chorus: Monsanto Go Away Go Away Go Away
You are NOT welcome on our land
Monsanto Go Away Go Away Go Away
You are trespassing on our land

You say you're all about democracy
But then you interfere in our political process
You may have fooled some politicians
You may have given them some money

But this is not Washington DC
You cannot bully this community
We are much stronger than you think that we are
We are everywhere and we know who you are

Chorus: Monsanto.....

So if you know what is best for you
You will take your lies and go back home
You cannot tell your lies to change our minds
We don't want your frickin' poison seeds here in AUSTIN
For many many years we grow our food the natural way
Earth she gives us all we need to sustain
We will not grow your chemi-crops, you take your herbicides and go
You will not poison our homeland we say its time for you to go.

Amazing Alternative Circus Performances

Once I saw Ring-o-graphy from the Raw Art Circus, I was hooked.  Below is the path I took as I discovered this amazingly creative group of performers.  May your experience be as wonderful as mine has been.

I don't know that I have ever posted as many videos from any particular group, but each impacted me in such a way, I had to share.

Wall Street Food Industry Analyst on GMOs and Cancer

Take a few moments to listen to a Wall Street food industry analyst's and super-mom's views. It could change your life, the lives of your family members, communities and the planet.

"I can't unlearn this and I don't know what people will say if I try to teach them.  But, I have to try."

"Maybe one person can make a difference."

"As each and every single one of us does one thing; we have the ability to effect remarkable change."

Now, for the 11 year old super-kid's point of view:

I will repeat the words of super-mom from above:

"Maybe one person can make a difference."

"As each and every single one of us does one thing; we have the ability to effect remarkable change."

*Note: The speakers are not mother and son.
Birke's speech is from 2010, while Robyn's is from 2011.

Austin Monsanto March

If you're going to protest, know what you are talking about when they turn the camera on you.

Way to go Mr. "Know GMO, No GMO" guy!!! Kudos for being passionate, succinct, informed and present.

The video refers you to this link about the upcoming nation-wide rally.  Research SB 510 for yourself and determine if it is worth your time to get involved.

Video from the rally at the Texas Capital Building on March 26, 2011. I had hoped to be there to take photos, but was out of the country.

New Vantage Point

I meant to post this last week when it was cold, but I have been too busy pedaling about in the beautiful weather.
This was a painful shot, taken

from a vantage I had not considered only seconds before.

Yes...I classified it as street art...I thought it was funny.

Ascension Mantra

I was doing a massage when this came out of her ipod...I froze and listened to the entire thing.

She said, "Yeah, that's what happened to me too.".

It's That Time Again

Citysearch is taking votes for their "Best Of" selections. I am competing against all of the health and med spas in Austin and the surrounding areas. In most categories, I am the only independent therapist to make the list. If you care to vote, click here.

If you aren't already on Citysearch it will ask you to register, but it is free.

I am listed as Erik "Kuykendall - Positive Pressure".

Thank you to everyone who helped me be listed as #1 in Citysearch "Best Of Austin" for 2009. Here's to making the list again this year.

Sixth-graders, from left, Jacorey Jackson, Deante' Maxey, Casandra Hernandez and Kamryn Jefferson, all 11, wear special tracking badges at Bailey Middle School in Spring.

Radio frequency identification — the same technology used to monitor cattle — is tracking students in the Spring and Santa Fe school districts.

Identification badges for some students in both school districts now include tracking devices that allow campus administrators to keep tabs on students' whereabouts on campus. School leaders say the devices improve security and increase attendance rates.

I have family raising children in the Spring district and look forward to their insights and comments.

In light of my last post, I would like to ask for people's opinions on the RFID program in the Spring and Santa Fe school districts and ideas about how to create something to impact our communities and the planet in a positive way.

Fluoride in the Water - Good For You?

Hey Austin!

Did you know that the water in Austin is fluoridated?

Join us in our efforts to remove fluoride from the drinking water in Austin.

When the City Council made its 1973 decision to add fluoride to the public water supply, it used data that is now known to be false.

Communities across the US are recognizing this public health debacle and are voting against fluoridation. Inform and mobilize Austinites to seek the end of water fluoridation of the city water we use to drink, cook, and grow our food.

Please inform yourself, then phone to share what you have learned with those who represent you.

Unexpected Departure

I know I told everyone I would be around until the 18th or 19th, but there was a mix-up and I need to be back in Canada by tomorrow! Yes, it is terribly short notice. I apologize to all of those who I promised to say goodbye to, but could not. I am afraid the situation was beyond my control.

We will be coming back to the States soon to visit friends and work with clientele. Please send me a note if you want me to keep you on the list for massages when I return.

Thank you to all who made us feel so loved. In our wildest dreams; we never expected to know people as kind, giving and open. We will miss you all and hope to visit often.
