"The Story of Bottled Water" was released on March 22, 2010 (World Water Day) employs the Story of Stuff style to tell the story of manufactured demand.

Johnny Cash - Done Differently
I grew up in Texas and saw Johnny Cash at the Houston rodeo when I was about 5 years old. You could say I have been a Cash fan almost my entire life. His "Ring of Fire" is etched in the minds and hearts of Texans and millions around the world.
Adam Lambert throws out the original arrangement, supplants it with a more Middle Eastern score and makes it his own. I included the long version for context. If you only want to watch the singing portion, it begins about 1:40 in.
I know what you are thinking: "I can't believe he posted an American Idol video." I can't either. I hope that he loses the American Idol competition and just allows this to jump start his career. The kid is discovered now, he don't need no stinking corporate handlers.
P.S. Please forgive me for posting something that has a Coca-Cola subliminal throughout.

A Google Gift
Google was good to me today. I was looking at some of the traffic for my site and I had a visitor from Raleigh, NC who found me by Googling: "laws against black and female presidential candidates". Now that it is on my site, I will always be in the choices when people search that line.
If you found your way by Googling this very line...Welcome! Please take some time to dig through my site and comment. I entertain all thought and do my best to respond to most comments.

Got Milk?
Milk, it does a body good?
As many of you know, I don't think that milk is healthy choice for anyone. These kids use an unsophisticated, yet effective, way of testing the theory that you can't drink a gallon of milk in an hour without throwing up.
Ever wonder about drug residues are in your milk?
There is a great video on how Fox News suppressed an investigative story on rBGH (recombinant bovine growth hormone). You can watch it here.

Rick Perry Mandates Vaccines
Texas Governor Rick Perry his displayed his contempt for his constituency, open discourse, and personal rights...once again. In a disgusting display of arrogance on February 2nd, King Perry mandated (dictated) Executive Order RP65 in which Texas has become the 1st state (hopefully the last) to require all 11- and 12-year-old girls entering the sixth grade to be vaccinated for 4 of 20 types of HPV.
The Dallas Morning News reports,

Beyond many of my typical reservations regarding vaccinations, I have several concerns regarding King Perry's Mandate:
Mandating a vaccine is bad, mandating one that we do not know long-term the efficacy, risks, or side effects of is careless and dangerous. This is especially true when the only people providing research results that validate it's safety and effectiveness are the people who will profit most from it being on the market. That's right. Merck did all of it's own testing on Gardasil. Merck is the same company that brought you Vioxx with falsified testing that resulted in the deaths of thousands of Americans.
A little reminder from the Washington Post in '05:
Remember, Vioxx was approved by the FDA and Merck had provided the research to get it approved. NPR's Research on whether Merck tried to censor Vioxx critics included this:
I ask our legislators to to stand up for Texas, stand up for personal rights, stand up for the future health of our nation and the world. Stop this mandated state-wide experiment on our 11 yr. old and up girls.
The Dallas Morning News reports,
"Merck had provided a relatively small amount of money to Mr. Perry's campaign fund – $5,000 in 2006 – and has paid three lobbyists up to $250,000 this year. One of the lobbyists, Mike Toomey, was formerly Mr. Perry's chief of staff.

A little reminder from the Washington Post in '05:
The possible FDA fallout from the (Vioxx) trial was quickly evident in a statement from Sen. Charles E. Grassley (R-Iowa), who held a hearing on the drug safety issue last fall.
"The Food and Drug Administration was also negligent in the Vioxx case," said Grassley, who has proposed making the drug safety office more independent. "Those running the nation's public safety agency repeatedly dismissed the concerns of their own scientists and seemed to do everything possible to keep the public in the dark about emerging problems with Vioxx."
Remember, Vioxx was approved by the FDA and Merck had provided the research to get it approved. NPR's Research on whether Merck tried to censor Vioxx critics included this:
FDA whistleblower Doctor David Graham estimates that at least 38,000 people died from taking Vioxx. Drummond Rennie, deputy editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, notes that "each one of those is somebody, is a real person, with a real family, real people who grieve for them."You can read the FDA label info for Gardasil here and the product approval info here.
I ask our legislators to to stand up for Texas, stand up for personal rights, stand up for the future health of our nation and the world. Stop this mandated state-wide experiment on our 11 yr. old and up girls.

This is the place to shop for Fire Gear!!!
Those of you who know me, know I don't advertise many businesses. I contacted Adam with Fire Gear because of his fabulous reputation in the community for creating quality fire-dancing supplies. I wanted to see if he could do a rush order because of my upcoming show at Natalie Elliot's annual birthday bash. I told him I needed them by Thursday, he said he could get them for me by tomorrow.
You can't go anywhere better or deal with a nicer guy.

Beauty
It's no wonder our perception of beauty is distorted.

Dove has created a marvelous short film regarding our manufactured perceptions of beauty. I strongly suggest watching it and sharing it with young people. I do not endorse Dove products and suggest against participating in any of their requested marketing activities. This is a marvelous film, but it is still a marketing piece. The company is revealing marketing practices that have shaped the views of many and is ironically using it to market their products and further their branding.
