A Message of Love

This is an inspiring video with a message of love being shared by Keith Wyatt. "The Call" is the first video in a series of five. There is no hook. It is not an advertisement! It is more of a USA (A Universal Service Announcement).

The Revolution Has Begun.

Okanagan Film Commission at Media Button

I have just a few minutes between study sessions and wanted to share a couple of photo illustrations from the Okanagan Film Commission's gathering at Media Button the other evening.

The first capture is Adam Scorgie, Executive producer of the award-winning documentary, "The Union".

It was wonderful to stand in the midst of this collection of creative talent. I look forward to the creative possibilities that await harvest in the Okanagan. Thanks to Jon Summerland and his talented group at the Commission and to Dave Araki and the creative powerhouse team at Media Button in Kelowna.

The second is Felix Poet (my version of reality).

What is a Moment?

I found the short film below to be very moving as director, William Hoffman
attempts to share his vision of the answer to that question:

Radiolab provides the music.
Music by Parachutes: "Where Were You?"

Presented by WNYC Radiolab.

From the "ABOUT" section of the Radiolab site:
"Radiolab believes your ears are a portal to another world. Where sound illuminates ideas, and the boundaries blur between science, philosophy, and human experience. Big questions are investigated, tinkered with, and encouraged to grow. Bring your curiosity, and we'll feed it with possibility."

Children of the Agape Choir

I think this is the first time I have featured a blog post on a competitor's blog in the Blog Explosion competitions.

The post is on Scotty's site and is called Unconditional Love.

He located a video of a movie trailer about  by the Children of Agape Choir.  It's really worth a watch/listen/read so click on the picture to be taken to his site.

Hollaback Girl of Constant Sorrow

This morning brings another fun video. This is an unlikely blend of Gwen Stephani and the Soggy Bottom Boys in a tune called "Hollaback Girl of Constant Sorrow".

(Found at C&L)

If anyone knows the artist who put this together, please forward their name and any other info you have on them. Hope you got a kick out of it, too.

Think Big - Draw Big!

Erik Nordenankar had a dream to create the world's largest drawing. He had the idea to use a GPS unit as his brush and the globe, his canvas. He has created a fictional work to document the viability of his idea.

Erik provides clarification of the project on his website:

New Documentary - Food Matters

This appears to be the next don't-miss documentary on food and health. "Food Matters" addresses health issues associated with food, genetic modifications and pesticides. You can visit the Food Matters site here.

They describe themselves as:
We are nutritionists turned filmmakers.

We discovered that what we are being told to eat by governments, food companies and mass media marketing is actually doing us considerable harm.

In a mission to uncover the truth we have tracked down several of the world’s leaders in nutrition and natural healing from around the globe in order to provide you with the most up to date information on nutrition and natural healing.

The focus of the film is in helping us rethink the belief systems fed to us by our modern medical and health care establishments. Our teachers point out that not every problem requires costly, major medical attention and reveal many alternative therapies that can be more effective, more economical, less harmful and less invasive.

The Future of Food

As Earth Day passes again, I would like to share a documentary that I share with people who are new to the idea of food shortages, genetic modifications and the corporatization of biological life forms.

The Future of Food is a good way to wake up friends and relatives. Although the truth can be tough to believe, there are no outlandish claims made and everything in the video can easily be researched and verified.

You can get the DVD for a friend at their website: click here

"As we move on into this so-called biotech revolution and we start producing more and more transgenic manipulations, we'll start seeing pieces of DNA interacting with each other in ways that are totally unpredictable...

I think this is probably the largest biological experiment humanity has ever entered into."

Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?

I don't remember the last time I recommended a movie, but I have one for you tonight. I found it to be a refreshing political documentary of hope. I won't say much more about it other than, "It inspired me." and "You should watch it."

You should check out "Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore?". It is a great piece of film that kept me interested from beginning to end. You can see the official movie site here. I really enjoyed this one, I hope you do too.

Fully Flared Trailer

I found the trailer below on a skateboard blog called Sirj Skates. It is the intro to the Lakai - "Fully Flared" DVD. If you like skateboarding, you should check it out. If you like extreme skateboarding, you really must see this. If you like extreme skateboarding with fire and explosions, stop reading now and press play.

People in Order

Here's an interesting short film called "People in Order" by Lenka Clayton and James Price.

This short submission to the Portable Film Festival shows 100 people of Britain arranged by age from 1 to 100, counted off by a drum (drumbeat of time?).

Made me think quite a bit. You?

Confused Police Kill Crime Film Actors

Some days it's just not safe to be an artist.

(Picture: from the U.K. Metro)

"Radical Ribeiro, of the Banda Mulundi production company, insists he had permission to film at the location, a gritty suburb of Luanda."

He said: "We saw the police pick-up speeding towards us. It looked empty but then suddenly it stopped and people appeared on the back.

"Without asking any questions, they started shooting at everybody at close range."

Read the rest of the story here. I was relieved to hear it wasn't officers in East Austin this time.

Morning Music - George Bush Does R.E.M

Ok...maybe it's because I'm a child of the 80s, maybe it's because I enjoy art made from other art...but I got a kick out of this. A very creative person (I haven't discovered who yet) put edited a series of clips in such a manner that "the Decider" appears to be singing his own version of R.E.M.'s "It's the End of the World as We Know It".

I was going to wait until after the holidays to put this one up, but as the song itself is time sensitive to 2007, I felt it should be posted today.

Maxed Out - The Movie

Give the gift of freedom. Tell someone not to buy you anything!!! Let's all work together to help get more people out of debt. You are whole!!! You don't need to buy more stuff to be a good child, spouse, friend!! Be a better friend. Friends don't let friends use credit.

Since I'm on a holiday roll...here's a feature length film about credit. This one is called "
Maxed Out" and is directed by James Scurlock.

To book James Scurlock as a speaker, please contact Jonathan Tunick of Mainstage Productions at (212) 647-0947 or jtunick@main-stageproductions.com.
